I’m just the crazy slut with a dead husband!

Silver Lining Playbook was a fantastic movie. I can’t really rave about it enough because it’s so rarely that the mentally ill are portrayed as human beings. It was a very poignant and painfully realistic portrayal of bipolar disorder and hypersexuality (in this case brought on by depression.) It showed that even though someone is mentally ill they can have a fulfilling life. They have the ability to manage their illness and do better. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper do an outstanding job. I highly recommend it.

(And if you don’t fall in love with their performance at the dance contest, go see a doctor. There’s a high probability that you’re dead inside.)

Accurate and I haven’t the faintest clue as to why that is.

I will tell you.
We want no one to know because it shows weakness. It shows us as vulnerable. Which is not allowed.
The reason we want someone to figure it out is because we are willing to share it with someone, but not just anyone. Someone who has figured it out obviously cares. Has taken an interest. And is thereby worthy of some form of trust.

When I started taking meds for bipolar disorder, I had no idea that relapses/episodes would still plague me and that this is normal. Meds are not a cure all, but they do lessen your symptons so that you can ride them out. You may falter, but you will be able to stand again. Peaks and valleys, my friends.
