Regarding Hero Clix: If someone approached you and asked for advice on what to pick up for their first time, what would you suggest? I know you posted something along these lines, but I'll be damned if I can find it. That, and I've been reblogging for about 5 hours ...

I would suggest understanding that you know what Heroclix is before you get into it.

Heroclix is expensive. Heroclix is COLLECTIBLE. When a set comes out there are going to be pieces you want that you didnt get. There are pieces from previous sets you may want that are on ebay for $70+. Heroclix can be an addiction. Ask MtG players. Its hard to play Heroclix casually.

If you are okay with this, and are willing to throw down some cash, then I suggest a Starter Set. They run about $30 some bucks, and have a set of rules and powers along with two maps and 6-7 figs. Also there are Fast Forces packs which look just like the starter sets, cost half as much, have maps. but no rules or power card lists. So, those are good to get too. You can actually see what you are buying as opposed to the blind purchase nature of the rest of the game.

There are levels of rarity for the figs, which is both exciting and maddening. Also there are some figs that just arent that good. Or some who you will just never play.

Also there is a thriving community out there to play with. But understand the difference between playing casually and competitively. People can become dicks when prizes are on the line. Some people are just sore losers. But I think that runs in any organized play environ, Im sure Magic and Pokemon players encounter that as well.

So I suggest you fully appreciate what the Heroclix hobby is and can be. And there is a world of difference between buying figs and playing with friends at home and going to your FLGS for a tourney.

Lemme know if you have any more questions.
