When people say they hate Ted Mosby, I remind them of this…
Granted this is the first episode… And his character changes. But still. He started out cool.
Woah, woah, woah
Hating Ted Mosby is perfectly rational. That dude is annoying as all hell, he’s the reason I never say encyclopedia out loud anymore, and he should be nicknamed Falcor, because he deserves the title “The Never-Ending Story” way more than those movies ever did.
Earlier seasons Ted is a different character than later seasons Ted. About halfway through Season 3 is when he really started changing. Dunno why, new writers maybe. The show itself changed a lot as well. Look at the style and feel of it. They had to stretch it out for the networks demands and a great show became an okay show.
I actually liked and identified with Ted a lot in the first season or two. We were both from Cleveland. We both were willing to go to unbelievable lengths for the idea of love. We both had a best friend from small town Minnesota. We both were geeks who still had decent social skills. And no matter what happens he never give up. Never loses hope.
Its been a while since I watched the show, but Ive watched the first season, episode 13, “Drumroll Please..” more times than I can count. Watch that episode again, maybe you will like Ted, or at least who he was…
